3 WEEK CREATIVE BOOK MAKING COURSE

w/ artist Carla Uriarte (Freda’s)

Create a bespoke book from start to finish. Each page will be handmade using different techniques — blending creative writing with art. The aim of this course is to explore your inner world. Growing a better understanding of oneself takes reflection, commitment and care. We will be exploring themes, prompts (writing and art), creativity, book making skills and MORE.

Final product: A handmade hardcover 10 page book

Who is this class for?

This class if for anyone who is looking to re ignite their creative spark. Abstract Thoughts Studio is a place for real human connection. Disconnect from the screen and be in a beautiful reality. All skills are welcomed! All you need is a drive to create.

Class Breakdown

Week 1: Open the right side of your brain and be available to the universal flow. An exploration of the stream of consciousness. “Life is not a series of gig lamps symmetrically arranged; life is a luminous halo, a semi-transparent envelope surrounding us from the beginning of consciousness to the end.” – Virginia Woolf

*Homework: Finalise your creative writing piece so that it is ready for next weeks class.

Week 2: Based on the themes found from the previous week we are now ready to explore art. Create artworks inspired by your words. This could be in a story book style ie. a children’s book, smaller sentences with art on the top OR this could be a longer text focused piece with artwork taking up an entire page.

*Homework: Finalise all art for your book so that it is ready for the book binding process.

Week 3: Finalising our book! Give last minute flourishes making sure all pages are prepped are ready to be bound. Learn how to bind! Show and tell.
